John's Jots

Outflow and Oveflow! Yes that is how we could proclaim our “Outflow” program concluded! March 28th we celebrated “The Church Has Left the Building” by donning our rain gear and heading out into the community to make a clean sweep of the city.
We had people at the Dinner Bucket and at Macs cleaning up and at Casey’s and Freedom Oil giving away drinks to customers. While at the church we had an Easter egg hunt going on in lieu of regular services for everyone in the community. We also delivered 18 Easter baskets to some of the local apartments.  Meanwhile, there were others of our congregation working on cleaning up peoples yards and cleaning out peoples’ rain gutters. While yet others were busy cleaning up the property on each side of the railroad tracks for four blocks, others cleaning up city parks and school grounds and still others cleaning up the area around our local electric sub station.
We collected and disposed of more than thirty bags of garbage.  The city had brought in a special hopper just for us for that day.  Let’s just say that due to the weather we can honestly say that we cleaned up town and God rinsed it off!
But, my what a rewarding feeling, to do good for God with no strings attached as we helped meet a need of our community. That’s what Christianity is all about. It is called LOVE!
The campaign may be over but we still have many pennies left to come back to the church as we continue to do good deeds to those around us. Let’s make sure to refill that jar in the foyer by the 4th of July.
     Will I C U N Church this “Sonday”?
