Your First Visit at Assumption Christian Church
To find details on when and where we meet each week, you can look on the "Location" and "Service Times" pages under the "Encounter" tab, but if you are considering visiting ACC, we hope this page can answer some questions you may have and help you to feel comfortable on your first visit.
What should I wear?
This may be a question you consider before you even leave for a visit. In a typical Sunday at ACC, you will see people wearing everything from t-shirt and jeans to a suit and tie. Wear what makes you feel comfortable as you come to share in worship.
Where should I go?
We have parking available right in front of the church building and in a lot across the street.
You can enter in any door, but if you are coming for Worship, the North door is closest to our auditorium. You turn right to enter the auditorium and you will be greeted at the doors. You may sit wherever you feel comfortable.
If you are coming to Sunday School, most adult classes are on the south end of the building.
Restrooms are available at both ends of the building. One set of restrooms can be found on the left (south) side of the north hallway towards the front of the building. The other is harder to find, in a small side hallway to the right after you enter the south doors but before you go into the fellowship hall.
What about my kids?
Classes for children up to Preschool age meet in the north hallway, and the rest of the classes for young people meet at the south end of the building. All classes are marked with signs and many people will be available to direct you to the correct room!
During our Worship service, a staffed nursery is available every week. When you enter the north doors, you can go straight ahead and the nursery will be on the right and is marked with a sign.
We also offer Children's Worship for youth K-5th grade. These students are dismissed during the song service and are asked to leave quietly to walk to the south end of the building where Children's Worship meets for the remainder of the service to provide age-appropriate teaching time and more. They are dismissed from there to meet up with you in the foyer as the service ends. Feel free to accompany your child to get them acclimated to Children's Worship.
What will happen?
The order of service changes, but it generally starts with music and continues into times of prayer, communion, and offering before a message from scripture is presented.
Bulletins with the order of service, announcements, a brief statement of beliefs, and more are available at the doors to the auditorium.
How will I be invited to participate?
During the song service you will be asked to stand and sit, but feel free to stand or sit at will. If you want to join in worship, words to all the songs will be projected onto the front screen.
During communion time, all believers are invited to participate in the Lord's Supper in remembrance of Christ. You may take the bread and juice as the pass and return the empty cup to the tray before passing it on.
After communion, an offering tray is passed. This offering is used to pay bills and salaries, support missionaries, and carry out ministry locally. As a visitor you are not asked to give and can feel free to simply pass the tray. If you feel compelled to share, feel free to do so.
At the end of the sermon each week, an invitation is presented. At this time, if you feel led to make a decision you can make your way to the front of the auditorium and speak with a minister or elder about your decision.
What if I want to know more?
